<p>The invention consists mainly of a large-diameter bearing permitting the rotation at high speed of a rotor (8) relative to a stator (7) without any mechanical contact between the said rotors and the said stators. The rotor (8) is guided both axially and radially by a thin film of compressed air flowing between the rotor (8) and the stator (7). The rotor (8) has, for example, a bi-frustoconical shape; the shape of the stator (7) complements that of the rotor (8).
