Rail traffic and road traffic require a large amount of land as does the construction of airports, and give rise to noise. In the age of environmental protection it is desirable for traffic to be quiet, that is to say electrically powered. However, roads require a large amount of land, therefore air traffic is suitable. The new air-cushion train is to land and take off from platforms over existing railway stations or on special platforms over existing railway platforms and is to draw current from two current-conducting wires. The rail vehicle which flies at a height of approximately 30-50 m is to be streamlined, load-bearing and propulsion-providing air columns are to be generated by built-in funnel-like threaded tubes by rapid rotation. A wing which is as long and wide as the air-cushion train will be provided on a web. Air flaps in the web direct the slip stream from one side of the side wind to the other side. Air flaps in the wing which direct the slip stream from the top to the bottom, also in order to provide lateral stability, operate similarly.
