The invention relates to a gas generation device. A bottle-shaped housing, which can be closed by a lid, is provided with a gas discharge branch and formed to receive a can-shaped insert surrounded by a filter tube. The gas generated at an end face of the insert (end burner) penetrates through openings of the insert and flows via the filter and channels in internal transverse fins of the housing to the gas discharge branch.
