PURPOSE:To prevent damage to a tape by detecting abnormality when at least one of two devices which detect the rotating states of a capstan motor and a reel respectively generates a signal showing abnormal rotation, and inhibiting a tape cassette to be taken out. CONSTITUTION:The capstan motor 8 is provided with a rotary phase generating device 10, whose output FG signal is inputted to an F V converting circuit 14 while used for rotation control over the motor 8; and the FG signal is converted into a voltage, which is inputted to an abnormality detecting circuit 15. If either or neither of the reel 1 and motor 8 rotates normally, the circuit 15 sends an output signal to a motor stop commanding circuit 5 to stop the motor 8 and also sends the output signal to a tape unloading inhibition circuit 16, which place a front loading driving circuit 17 in stop mode, so that a front loading motor 18 is inhibited from operating. |
