The radio network serves for the transmission of information between one pair (10, 11) of a plurality of paired radio stations via one radio channel of n radio channels. Since one radio station of the paired radio stations is in each case a mobile, portable radio station, its power consumption is to be kept as low as possible. For this reason, each pair of radio stations agrees at least prior to operation for the first time on a certain number of free radio channels, this number being small in comparison with the overall number of radio channels available.
