This is a mobile cleaning device, e.g. a cleaning machine or an automatic cleaner or the like, for cleaning relatively large areas such as floors or the like. It contains at least one disc-type brush arrangement (5) which can be placed on the surface (7) to be cleaned and a drive assembly (4) which produces a rotary movement of the brush arrangement (5). The disc-type brush arrangement (5) has at least two brush parts (34, 36) which have a common brush plane (38) and rotate in opposite directions. The first brush part (34) is constructed as an annular brush (35) which completely surrounds the second brush part (36) whilst leaving a gap. <IMAGE>
