The invention relates to an internal-combustion engine with a slider crank, in which the orbit 70 of a sliding piece 23 is adjustable in order to change the piston stroke and the compression ratio. A crank piece 25 has a crank journal 24, which carries the sliding piece 23 and brings it into the appropriate position. A crankpin 32 of the crank piece 25 is received by a control shaft 29 in an offset condition. A control gear normally drives the control shaft 29 synchronously with the crankshaft 26, in order to maintain a constant stroke and a constant compression ratio. A realignment of certain control gears by means of an actuating device ensures that the control shaft 29 is advanced or returned in the direction of rotation in order to shift the crank piece 25 over and thereby to adjust the orbit of the crank journal 24 and the sliding piece 23 coaxial therewith in relation to the axis of the crankshaft 26. The orbits of the sliding piece for operation with a higher or lower compression ratio can be so selected that they correspond optimally to the load states of the engine. An offset 27 of variable length connects the sliding piece 23 to the crankshaft 26. <IMAGE> |
