The invention relates to a wall element (1), the length of which is a multiple of the width, and which, being set up with its length running vertically, can be assembled with other identical wall elements to form a solid wall such as, for example, a sound-insulating wall, a screen wall or the like. The novelty of the invention is a connecting and clamping device (4 to 9) which is arranged in the interior of the wall element and by means of which the wall element can be bolted to neighbouring wall elements without the transverse load-bearing elements, which are otherwise required in the case of wall elements which are set up with their length running vertically, being necessary. This novel interior bolting arrangement permits not only a rapid and simple construction, but, likewise, an uncomplicated re-construction without the individual wall elements being damaged in any way. A further advantage is the possibility of setting up a solid wall, using wall elements according to the invention, on an uneven ground surface without having to erect a substructure or other types of foundations beforehand. <IMAGE>
