The machine for portioned making of coffee has a coffee hopper 3, a measured dispensing element 2 and a measured dispensing station for the measured dispensing of a portion of coffee immediately prior to use, elements 4, 5 for compressing the coffee in a compressing station, and elements 1 for transferring the coffee from the measured dispensing station to the compressing station and for conveying the compressed coffee on to an extraction device 6, to which hot water can be delivered. By compressing the coffee at a pressure of approximately 1,000 kg/cm2 an effective extraction is achieved. <IMAGE>
