The restoring device has dowels arranged in the joints between the ashlar slabs, which dowels are anchored in the wall of the structure, prevent the ashlar slabs from falling out and are used for anchoring a ventilated facade cladding which is to be newly installed. Restoring work is usually performed by ripping out the ashlar slabs and fitting a ventilated facade. The ripping-out work requires a large outlay in terms of time and money and gives rise to noise and dust formation. In the case of a known restoring device which does not require ripping-out work, a very large number of dowels which are subjected to strong bending stresses and have comparatively large diameters are used. According to the invention, the dowels are accommodated in metal or plastic vertical bracket plates, arranged in the joints at comparatively very large vertical spacings, and are hardly subjected to bending stresses. The ashlar slabs can be supported vertically and horizontally by simple metal or plastic components. The restoring device is used to eliminate damage resulting from ashlar slabs which have been produced and/or mounted in an incorrect manner.
