<p>NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI(m and n are 0 or 1). USE:An oxygen absorbent. It has extremely high thermal and chemical stabilities, and has extremely high oxygen dissolving power compared with water and various other solvents. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by the Kolbe electrolysis, i.e. electrolytic oxidation accompanied by decarbonation dimerization of the compond of formula II or its soluble salt in a polyalcohol solvent. It is essential in the above reaction to use a polyalcohol such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerin, etc. as the solvent, and the objective compound is scarcely produced in methanol or hydrated methanol.</p> |
