PURPOSE:To make possible the substantial magnetization of a high-density magnetic recording medium such as metal tape having high coercive force by forming a composite head block of a core main block consisting of an oxide magnetic material and an alloy magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A winding groove 3 is formed to the surface of the core half block 1 consisting of the oxide magnetic material such as ferrite material on the side facing a gap. The block 1 and a core half block 5 consisting of the oxide magnetic material are fixed to face each other to form the core main block 6. The surface of such block 6 except the pat 8 to be used as a surface to contact slidingly with a tape is masked by using acid-resistant wax, etc. and the surface is etched so that an oxide silicon film 4 to be used as the gap material remains. The alloy magnetic material 9 is deposited on the etched part of the block 6 to form a composite head block 10. Such block is sliced to form a composite head core 11. Cores 12 for reinforcement are further adhered to both side faces of the core 11. Large stad. magnetic flux density and high transmittance in a high-frequency region are thus obtd. |
