PURPOSE:To improve the performance of a probe, by forming an ultrasonic transmission part intended to contact the surface of an object to be detected from a specified polymethyl pentene. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic wave transmitting/receiving operation of this probe is the same as that of the conventional type. But among housing cases 8, at least the lower case 8a having an ultrasonic wave transmitting part intended to contact an object to be inspected (living body, especially human body) employs polymethyl pentene with the degree of crystallization prescribed by a value below about 0.015 in terms of the ratio between the peak strength Ip and the integrated strength (2theta: 5-30 deg.) I at the angle 2theta of diffraction =9.4 in the X ray diffraction image and the acoustic impedance will lower close to that of the body surface. Thus, an ultrasonic wave radiated from a vibrator 3 is reflected so less at the interface between the body surface of the object being inspected and the case section 8a as to eliminate degrading of the picture quality due to the propagation loss of the ultrasonic wave or multiplex echoes thereby improving the performance of the probe. |
