<p>Rotary pumps or engines having a laminated construction such that each machine consists of a series of parallel plates held together by tension members (5). The laminated body, whether rotating or stationary, comprises an assembly of plates (2), dividing plates (3) and endplates (4), the latter housing the bearings of the machine, the plates together defining one or more chambers. Curved vanes pivoted at one end, and having hinged tip members, lie within the chambers and they provide the pump or engine function according to the relative movement of vane to chamber.</p> |
