The subject of the invention is a direction-indicating device for land vehicles, in which, without monitoring by the driver and without inadequate mechanical restoration, the flashing continues, after triggering by the driver, for an appropriate time and is then automatically ended, in particular after a flashing duration which is dependent on the travel speed. For this purpose, in each case one transistor (Q3, Q4) is connected into the feed circuit of the direction flashing lights (11, 12) in addition to a flashing interruptor (8), which transistor (Q3, Q4) is driven via an invertor (21, 22) whose input level is obtained from a RC circuit whose capacitor (C1, C2) is charged by the actuation of the direction-indicating switch (10) and whose discharge time constant determines the duration of flashing. In order to influence the said constant by the travel speed, an earthing switch (6) is connected into the discharge path of the time setting capacitor (C1, C2), the said earthing switch (6) being installed in the tachometer shaft and periodically enabling a charge discharge path from the time setting capacitor (C1, C2) as a function of the speed of rotation of the said shaft.
