A guide rail for roller shutters is to be improved, namely with an approximately U-shaped cross-sectional profile formed from two legs 2, 3 and a base 4, fastening means 5 in the form of clamping webs, clamping noses or the like being arranged on the inside of the legs 2, 3 close to their ends and a groove 6 delimited by just such fastening means 5 being let in on the outside of the leg 3 which usually serves for fastening. In order to be able to use such a guide rail 1 as universally as possible, in particular with different construction depth and with different lateral connections, a mounting rail 7 is provided, which can be connected to the guide rail 1 and which has an essentially rectangular cross-sectional profile with complementary fastening means 5a on one side and at least one similar groove 6a on the other side, the complementary fastening means 5a being arranged eccentrically on the mounting rail 7. Advantageously, the mounting rail 7 has two similar grooves 6a and the complementary fastening means 5a are arranged symmetrically in relation to one of the two grooves 6a. In a further embodiment, two similar grooves 6a are provided in the guide rail 1 on the outside of its base 4. The mounting rail 7 can also be used to reduce the free cross-section in the guide rail 1, for which it is simply inserted into the interior of the guide rail 1. <IMAGE>
