The invention relates to a basket-shaped or beaker-shaped receiving apparatus for paint containers on paint spray guns. For painting relatively small surfaces, such as doors or wings on motor vehicles, paint spray guns are used which are furnished with a basket-shaped or beaker-shaped receiving apparatus for paint containers. These paint containers are flow-connected to the spraying nozzle of the paint spray gun via a channel penetrating their bottom. In order to keep as small as possible the paint-wetted surfaces to be cleaned when there is a change in paint, the invention provides that the receiving apparatus is provided with a tap pin, which extends in the receiving direction of the paint container and which is preferably conical, hollow or configured as a hollow needle or the like, on which the paint container can be mounted in a liquid-tight manner.
