PURPOSE:To obtain excellent electrostatic charging, developing and transferring characteristics and a stable image by forming a discontinuous layer of an electron attractive or anionic component on the surface layer of insulating particles for which a specific binder resin is used and specifying the electrical resistivity of the developer particles at a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The discontinuous layer of the electron attractive or anionic component is formed on the surface layer of the insulating particles contg. the binder resin contg. the monomer component having the nitrogenous polar functional group expressed by the formula (R1 is H or methyl, R2, R3 are H or alkyl of 1-4C and does not simultaneously contain H, n is 1-4) as the essential component and the electrical resistivity over the entire part of the developer particles is adjusted to <=10<14>OMEGAcm. Such developer compsn. has the excellent electrostatic charging and developing characteristics as not only the two-component developer but one-component developer as well. The electrostatic charging, developing and transferring characteristics are stable against environmental change such as temp. and humidity and the characteristics do not change even after repetitive use. There are no change and deterioration with age. The stable image is obtd. regardless of the image forming process. |
