PURPOSE:To transmit efficiently a pattern data of different expression from by transmitting a character data of the same expression form in the lump independently of the display position of a screen so as to minimize the transmission of a switch code designating the display form. CONSTITUTION:A KANJI (Chinese character) switch code 40 is added to a head data only of a KANJI data block in combining an alphanumeric data block and a KANJI data block of a transmitted test, and the code 40 represents that the succeeding data are all Chinese writings. The transmission text like this is transmitted to terminal devices 2-n from an information center 1. The transmission text is received by a controller of the terminal devices 2-n, the data is discriminated as an alphnumeric data unit the code 40 is detected by the control of the controller and one byte is extracted as the character. Then the data is stored in the pattern buffer according to the address added to each data. Further, the data after the code 40 is detected is stored in the buffer as the character data and the said character data is displayed on a video device.
