PURPOSE:To accelerate the growth of mushroom, and to culture a mushroom in short time and improved yield, by treating the culture medium inoculated with the fungus of mushroom in electric field having a strength lower than the level to cause the glow-corona discharge. CONSTITUTION:The seed fungus of mushroom is inoculated in an artificial culture medium prepared by mixing wood, sawdust and rice bran, etc. The obtained culture medium 5 is placed on a metallic plate or on soil, and an active electrode 2 is placed near the culture medium 5. The active electrode 2 is connected to an AC or DC high-voltage power source 1, and the other electrode 3 is grounded. An electric potential of >=1kV AC or >=5kV DC is applied between the electrodes, and the medium is subjected to the electric field treatment under a field strength lower than the level to cause the generation of glow-corona discharge, preferably for >=30min. The objective mushroom is produced by the conventional cultivation method.
