1,114,506. Electrical coil. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 3 Oct., 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 44109/66. Headings H1P and H1T. [Also in Division D1] A layer of epoxy glass or other resinous insulating material 16 is placed on a winding arbor and on top of this material is wound a plurality of layers of insulated wire in the form of a cross-wound open-mesh coil 10. A second layer of resinous material 18 is wound round the outside of the coil. Subsequent heating causes the resin to bond the whole winding together, giving a rigid self-supporting coil. The wire itself may be provided with an overcoat of adhesive insulating material which, on heating, joins the layers of wire together at the cross-over points. A method of winding the coil is described (see Division D1).
|
