PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce the weight of a starter with no abrasion part, by providing such a motor that it may be used as a generator when a starter switch is turned off, and by electrically connecting between both poles of motor brushes. CONSTITUTION:When a starter switch 21 is turned on, a pull-in coil 22 is energized so that a plunger 24 rotates a linkage 25 counterclockwise, and therefore a movable contact 28c opens a reverse contact 28b. When a drive gear 26 has come to be meshed with a flywheel ring gear 27, the movable contact 28c closes the contact 28a to drive a motor 29 for starting an engine. After starting, the switch 21 is turned off to deenergize the coil 22 so that the plunger 24 is returned, and the linkage 25 closes the movable contact 28c and the reverse contact 28b. Accordingly, both poles 29a, 29b of motor brushes are electrically connected, and therefore, generated electrical power is consumed and discharged on the ground side. Accordingly, the high inertial rotation of the motor 29 is braked with no abrasion. |
