4,4-diaryldihydroquinazolones of the formula <IMAGE> (I) wherein X1, X2 and X3, independently of one another, denote hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, aryl, alkanoylamino, aroylamino, heteryl, NY1Y2, OY3 or SY3, at least one of the radicals X1, X2 or X3 standing for NY1Y2, OY3 or SY3, R1 denotes hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or the members of a bridge to the o-carbon of ring C, R2 denotes a radical of an acid, Y1, Y2 and Y3, independently of one another, denote hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl aryl or heteryl or the remaining members of a 5- or 6-membered ring which reaches to one of the o-position benzene C atoms and may contain further hetero atoms or Y1+Y2 denote the remaining members of a 5- or 6-membered ring which may contain further hetero atoms and the rings A, B and C and the radicals mentioned can in turn carry nonionic substituents customary in dye-stuff chemistry, find utility in pressure-copyable thermoreactive and electrochromic recording materials. |
