A color television signal generating apparatus has a noise reduction circuit which comprises a first subtracting circuit for obtaining a difference signal of two demodulated color signals which are obtained from a color multiplexed carrier wave, a first amplitude limiting circuit for amplitude-limiting a noise component in the difference signal from the first subtracting circuit to a predetermined level, a first adder for obtaining an added signal of an output of the first amplitude limiting circuit and one of the demodulated color signals, and a second subtracting circuit for obtaining a difference signal of the output of the first amplitude limiting circuit and the other of the demodulated color signals.
