PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin compsn. which can be easily produced and has good moldability, by blending a polyphenylene ether with a rubber- modified styrene resin. CONSTITUTION:A rubber-modified styrene resin obtd. by polymerizing 95-85wt% styrene monomer in the presence of 5-15wt% polybutadiene [solution viscosity (25 deg.C, in 5wt% styrene soln.); 180cp or above] is used. 20-80pts.wt. polyphenylene ether [e.g. poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether] and 80-20pts.wt. said rubber-modified styrene resin are melt-kneaded in an extruder (the combined quantity being 100pts.wt.). The resulting thermoplastic resin compsn. has good solvent resistance and does not cause stress cracking even when used in parts in contact with gasoline, lubricating oil or Freon, and hence, the compsn. is suitable for use as automobile parts.
