PURPOSE:To perform a magnetic recording based on the following information by providing a shifting register at the position corresponding to the feeding position of a body to be examined and by writing the information at the bit position of the shifting register corresponding to the treating time thereof in case of the different processing time being required for the different sort of detecting signal. CONSTITUTION:When the flaw part of a zinc plated plate 13 reaches the position of a laser detecting part 16, a detecting part 16 memorizes the full length counter G as G1 with its reading. Thereafter the detecting part 16 performs the treatment corresponding to the sort of flaw and its condition and when the decision is made that the flaw is harmful to the plate 13, it outputs a detection signal D. Then when the writing part 18 receives the signal D, the counter G is memorized as a reading G2. With finding then the difference in the G2 and G1 to which zone is the flaw of the plate 13 progressing presently is known. The digital signal of the level (1) is written then in the bit position of the shifting register 17 corresponding to said zone. The writing position to the bit position of the shifting register 17 is thus controlled selectively according to the unfixed processing time for the signal D like this.
