PURPOSE:To attain simple constitution not requiring a tunnel erase head by setting a track width at recording to a track width smaller by a prescribed width than that at reproduction. CONSTITUTION:Suppose that a track remained unerased (data area B) caused by a track position error exists at a side of a reproducing track (data area A) having a track width T over a width d1. In running a main magnetic pole in the state above, its reproduced area is an area shown in a middle part 21b having a length of d3 and a thickness of delta2 resulting from the subtraction of a part having a length of d2 and a thickness of delta1 from both ends of the track width T of the main magnetic pole. Thus, the recording track width T and the reproduced track width d3 are set differently, and a vertical recording head not requiring any tunnel erase head is realized by making the difference to a nearly similar value as the track position error. |
