PURPOSE:To extremely facilitate the adhesion with an optical fiber, by forming a prism part from a transparent lumpy adhesive in place of one made of glass. CONSTITUTION:Both optical fibers 11, 12 are embedded in and adhered to the adhesive surface of an adhesive 13 in such a state that the end parts thereof are arranged in the same direction. The side surfaces (two lower sides in the drawing) of this lumpy adhesive 13 opposed to the fiber adhering surface thereof is molded into a right angle prism shape. Before the adhesive put in a molding hole 14a is cured, the end parts of the optical fibers 11, 12 are embedded in the adhesive to be adhered thereto and, after curing, the whole is taken out. By this method, a prism shape is formed by the molding hole 14a. When this sensor is used, reflective indice at the parts of the side surfaces 13a, 13b of the prism shape of the adhesive 13 are different when the sensor is present on the wave surface of a detection wave 15 and present in the wave 15 and a liquid level can be easily detected on the basis of the change in the intensity of light transmitted from the light transmitting optical fiber 11 to the light receiving optical fiber 12. |
