PURPOSE:To obtain a photoelectric conversion element which can transmit light effectively, by providing a hole from the tip of a transparent mold along the direction of the optical axis, inserting an optical fiber into the hole and bonding it thereto. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber inserting hole 6 is provided along the direction of optical axis (a) from the tip of a resin mold 4 of a lead frame 2 and a semiconductor 3. The internal bottom face of the hole is finished into a flat plane or into a shape like a convex lens so as to prevent the dispersion of light. The inner diameter of the hole in determined according to the diameter of the optical fiber to be inserted. Before inserting and connecting an optical fiber, an adhesive filler is previously applied to the tip of the optical fiber. According to this construction, the tip end of the mold section 4 need not be limited to a lens shape. Therefore, obtained is a photoelectric conversion element which can be easily molded and can effectively transmit light with little scattered light between the element and an optical fiber. |
