PURPOSE:To assure satisfactory vertical and horizontal focusings by making narrower a distance between an electrode for the horizontal focusing and an opposed electrode thereto than a distance between an electrode for horizontal deflection and an opposed electrode thereto. CONSTITUTION:A plate type CRT is formed by arranging a vertical scanning electrode 12, a linear cathode 10, G1, G2, G3, and G4 electrodes 13, 14, 15, and 16, a horizontal focusing electrode 17, a horizontal deflection electrode 18, and a fluorescent layer 7, while making narrower an electrode width D1 of the horizontal focusing electrode 17 than an electrode width D2 of the horizontal deflection electrode 18. Accordingly, a beam spot with satisfactory vertical and horizontal focusings can be yielded by forming a vertical focusing lens electric field by making narrower a vertical opening width of the G4 electrode 16 than a horizontal one thereof, while by concentrating the horizontal focusing electric field onto the narrower portion of the electrode width D1. |
