PURPOSE:To attain the prevention of color shift and the enhancement of replacement efficiency by effectively excluding residual suspended mist, by automatically displacing the exhaust position of an exhaust port to the place directly under an article to be painted in synchronous relation to the feed-out movement of the article to be painted. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust port 6 is formed by providing a plurality of slit like exhaust openings 6A, 6B over entire surfaces of the plan-view projection surface area X of an article 1 to be painted, the peripheral area in the vicinity thereof and the set distance y-area in the downstream side of a feed direction directly under the article 1 to be painted present at a spray painting position. In this case, opening and closing lids 13 are respectively provided to the slit like exhaust openings 6B and, with the feed-out movement of the article 1 to be painted after the completion of spray painting, each exhaust opening 6B is successively opened from one positioned directly under the moving article 1 to be painted among the exhaust openings 6B held to a closed state at the time of spray painting in synchronous relation to the movement of the article to be painted. Simultaneously with the feed-in of the next article to be painted, all of the exhaust openings 6B are again brought to a closed state.
