PURPOSE:To form a magnetic head giving hardly damage to a medium and realizing high durability by specifying a radius of curvature to a part sliding with the magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 1 contacts a flexible magnetic disc 2 and is pressed by a pad 3 from the opposite side. The magnetic head 1 consists of an electromagnetic converting element 4 and a slider 5, the part contacting and sliding with the medium is polished in a spherical face, its radius of curvature is in the range of 10-40mm, and the radius of curvature is desired to be <=40mm from the standpoint of the durability. The medium contact diameter decreases linearly, however, as the radius of curvature is decreased and it is known that there is a minimum radius of curvature to attain recording/ reproduction of a signal which is in stable contact with the medium in a definite track width. Since the track width is nearly 160mum in an existing flexible magnetic disc device, the minimum value of the radius of curvature is nearly 10mm. |
