PURPOSE:To produce a titled steel plate having excellent formability with less ridging in the stage of drawing by subjecting a blank steel material having the specific compsn. contg. a proper ratio of Al and added with Ta in combination to heating, holding and hot rolling then to cold rolling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The ferritic stainless steel slab contg., by weight %, <=0.1% C, <=1.0% Si, <=1.0% Mn, 12-20% Cr, <=0.025% N, 0.05-0.30% Al and 0.0008-0.1000% Ta and consisting of the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities is heated and held to and within a 1,000-1,300 deg.C. The slab is then subjected to hot rolling in such a manner that the cumulative draft attains >=80% and thereafter the rolled steel is cold rolled down to the product plate thickness without hot rolling and annealing. The ferritic stainless steel plate having excellent ridging characteristic is thus obtd.
