PURPOSE:To prevent sheet jam in an image forming device such as a laser printer by equipping it with a sheet feeding device whereby sheet feed is switched so as to be made from another sheet stacking means before the sheet stacking means in question is exhausted completely. CONSTITUTION:In this image forming device, each transcription sheet sent from a upper cassette 10 or a lower cassette 11 as sheet stacking means is fed to the surface of a drum 3 through the action of feed rollers 12A, 12B and transport rollers 13A, 13C, and a transcriptive electric charge apparatus 6 performs transcription of a toner on the drum 3 onto the sheet. Residual sheets sensors 14-1, 14-2 are arranged below the body in the position mating with the cassettes 10, 11. Further, image forming device is equipped with a switching means to change over the sheet feed according to the signal given by the sensors so that the other sheet stacking means with sheets loaded will take over the sheet feed. |
