PURPOSE:The titled resin excellent in bonding strength, elongation at break and flexibility and suitable as an adhesive for the side seams of metallic cans which must have a performance of high-speed bonding, obtained by copolymerizing nylon 612 salt with a specified lactam other than said salt or a condensate. CONSTITUTION:Nylon 612 salt (e.g., salt between equimolar amounts of hexamethylenediamine and dodecanedioic acid) and a 6-13C lactam (e.g., caprolactam) other than said salt or an omega-aminocarboxylic acid or a condensate of a 6-13C alkylenediamine with a 6-13C alkanedicarboxylic acid (e.g., hexamethylenediamine adipate) are heated in the presence of water, a catalyst such as phosphoric acid and a MW modifier such as acetic acid at 200-300 deg.C for 1-20hr while the formed water is being removed, and the reaction mixture is copolymerized at 200-300 deg.C for several hr under atmospheric pressure or a reduced pressure.
