PURPOSE:To stably drive a mechanical displacement for a long period by alternately applying voltages exceeding and lower than a reference voltage of a drive voltage at the initially applying drive voltage, and gradually approaching it to the drive voltage. CONSTITUTION:An electrostrictive element 1 is interposed between a stationary unit 5 and a displacing unit 2, and compressed by a spring force of the unit 2. When a drive voltage E is applied to electrodes 3, 4 in this state, a mechanical displacement is generated in the unit 2. In this case, before the prescribed drive voltage is applied, with the drive voltage as a reference, the voltages exceeding and lower than the reference voltage are alternately applied, and the voltage is further gradually approached to the prescribed drive voltage, and the drive voltage is subsequently applied. Thus, it can be converged to the prescribed mechanical change in a short time, and stable mechanical displacement can be held for a long period. |
