PURPOSE:To obtain a unidirectional prepreg having a high conversion ratio of a strength of carbon fiber and a large mechanical strength, by arranging nontwisted carbon fiber bundles so that the standard deviation of angles of disturbance of carbon fiber filaments from the direction of arrangement of fiber may be equal to or smaller than a specified value. CONSTITUTION:In a hot melt process, for example, a plurality of carbon fiber bundles 1 substantially nontwisted and having a flatness of 0.2-1 is fed in a nontwisted state from a creel stand 2 and arranged on a silicon paper 3 coated with a matrix resin and at the same time sandwiched between two sheets of resin-coated silicon paper 3 and passed between hot rollers 4 to impregnate it with the matrix resin. Silicon paper 3 is wound around a winder 5 and the prepreg is wound around a winder 6. In order to lower said standard deviation to 2 deg. or below, a tension in feeding carbon fiber bundle 1 from creel stand 2 and the contact pressure of carbon fiber bundle 1 sandwiched between silicon papers 3 against hot roller 4 during passing hot rollers 4 is set at 1-300g/carbon fiber bundle.
