PURPOSE:To enable to send only picture data of an area desired to read by displaying the newest plural rows out of black-and-white information obtained by a roller provided with an image pickup mechanism that can collect black- and-white information of a picture linearly and by a fixed length and can move in the direction at right angles to the straight line. CONSTITUTION:Black-andwhite information as a plane picture is collected by moving a roller 11 provided with an image pickup mechanism that can collect black-and-white information of a picture along a straight line 10 by the length in the direction at right angles to the straight line 10. The newest plural rows out of black-and-white information of pictures obtained by each movement of the roller by a fixed interval are displayed in a liquid crystal display unit 12. A starting point of transmission is adjusted by moving the roller 11 right and left watching a picture projected on the liquid crystal display unit 12, and a desired area of reading 2 is conformed with the width of picture to be transmitted by a cursor A switch 17 and cursor B switch 18. Thus, efficient transmission that does not require sending of picture data of unnecessary area to a picture processing device 7 can be performed.
