PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operation through recognition of the colors of ink of a recording head by providing a color discriminating means of ink of a recording head, and an indicating means of the color of ink of the recording head, based on the signal from the former means. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a substrate BP, driving electrodes DC and heat generating elements consisting of the resistors of a fixed dot number area are integrally formed. A certain number of ink discharge outlets are provided at the positions corresponding to respective heat generating elements on a metal piece 0. Below the driving electrodes DC electrodes SC for detection of the ink color are provided. A pen-body PB is a substrate for a head tip TC, and it serves as a cover for an ink tank B, also. Further, in the rear of the pen-body PB, a case C which has a handle for easy removal and reinstallation is fixed and forms a recording head. If a driving electric current is applied to the driving electrodes DC, the ink boils by the heat generating elements and it is discharged from the corresponding discharge outlets on the metal piece 0, performing recording on a recording paper, and on the other hand, the ink color is detected by the detecting electrodes SC, and indication takes place on the indicators LE1-LE3. |
