MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium which has excellent corrosion resistance even under high humidity and large reproduced output and is suitable for a magnetic disk, etc. to be recorded and reproduced with a floating type ring head in particular by providing a Co-Cr amorphous alloy magnetic film contg. O atoms at a specific ratio on a nonmagnetic substrate. CONSTITUTION:The Co-Cr amorphous alloy magnetic film contg. about 5-15 atomic% O atoms is formed on the non-magnetic substrate by sputtering of Co-Cr in the presence of gaseous O2 under 100mTorr gaseous Ar pressure. Such thin magnetic film has the high corrosion resistance even at and under a high temp. and high humidity and the reproduced waveform thereof is of the single humped characteristic intrinsic to a horizontally magnetizable film. The excellent magnetic recording medium of which the reproduced output has 0.8mV extent when used with the right type magnetic head having 0.25mu floating quantity and is suitable for a horizontal magnetic recording system for a mag netic disk, etc. is obtd.
