PURPOSE:To prevent the fan locking accident due to the freezing of residual condensate during the winter from occurring by a method wherein the lowering of cooling capacity at overload is checked by controlling the level of condensate left in a base in response to the temperature condition on outdoor side. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 10 with a through hole 11 is fixed on a drain port 9, which is provided on the bottom surface of a base 8 for condensate. Gas or volatile liquid with large expansion coefficient with respect to the change of ambient temperature is sealed in the interior of the diaphragm 10. A heat-sensitive cylinder 12, which senses ambient temperature, is connected through a capillary tube 13 to the diaphragm 10 and fixed on a pipe lying in the intermediate portion between the outdoor side and a heat exchanger 2 so as to sense the condensing temperature of a refrigerating cycle during the cooling operation and the outside temperature when the operation is stopped or during the blasting operation. The height of the diaphragm is expanded and contracted in response to the pressure in its interior. The height A of the diaphragm 10 is set to be lower than the gap B between the base 8 and a propeller fan 4 in order to drain the condensate from the drain port 9 outside an air conditioner, when the outside temperature is so low as to have the fear to cause to freeze the condensate left in the base 8. |
