The present invention relates to a connector for cables comprising a plurality of specific conductors, using specific end-parts 2, 3, of known type, for the cables to be connected and having orientation identifiers or polarising keys 4 with an interlocking element. This connector comprises a mechanical connection assembly encompassing an outer shell formed from two half-shells 6, 7 which are capable of being brought to bear, in a sealed manner, by their facing front surfaces 16, a means for securing these half-shells, each half-shell exhibiting a recess 25-26 into which can be engaged an intermediate element 19-20 fitting the polarising key 4 of the end-part 2-3 housed in the said half-shell in order to prevent the intermediate element and the end-part from rotating, the two intermediate elements 19-20 exhibiting, in their facing ends, complementary interlocking elements 23 which impose the desired relative orientation for the two intermediate elements and the end-parts to which they are secured. The invention is applicable to connectors for cables subjected to severe stressing. <IMAGE>
