The invention relates to a fire dog for supporting logs in the hearth of a chimney with a fireplace. The fire dog 1 is formed of hollow longitudinal raised bars 2 inside which a forced circulation of air is provided which heats up during its passage under the hearth. According to the main characteristic of the present invention, the circulation of air is compartmentalised between the bars 5 situated under the hot portion of the hearth and the outer bars 6.
