[Also in Divisions B2, C6 and F4] A beverage fermentation and storage tank 1, Fig. 1, of large capacity for installation out-ofdoors has a jacket 2 for the circulation of cooling fluid and a layer 3 of foamed polyurethane surrounding the tank and jacket, a temperature controller 12, an inlet 6, a float-controlled outlet 74, 71, spray pipes 15 for cleaning water and an exhaust pipe 8. Excess pressure in the tank is relieved through a water seal in a tank 100, Fig. 4, of transparent material provided with an outlet 101. Reduction of pressure below atmospheric caused by liquid overflowing through the exhaust pipe 8, is checked by the admission of air through syphon breaker 9 and vacuum breaker 11. The syphon breaker consists of a perforated plate 92, Fig. 3, a valve 93 normally covering the holes in the perforated plate, and a filter 94 for the air admitted. The vacuum breaker consists essentially of a pipe 110, Fig. 4, terminating in slits 114 and a free valve plate 113 normally in engagement with the valve seat 112. The pipe 110 communicates with an air line 16 for the exhaust pipe 8.</p> |
