PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a laser diode by providing a holder for many laser diodes on the top surface of a bottom plate, providing respective photodetecting elements on the reverse surface of an upper lid and hinging the bottom plate and upper lid. CONSTITUTION:The holder 30 for many laser diodes 60 is provided on the top surface of the bottom plate 11 which has a substrate 13 internally. The upper lid 21 is arranged above this holder 30 and photodetecting elements 63 are provided on the reverse surface of the upper lid 21 opposite fitting positions of diodes 60 in the holder 30. One end of the bottom plate 11 and one end of the upper lid 21 are coupled together through a hinge 20, and a freely attachable and detachable fixing means is provided between the other end of the bottom plate 11 and the other end of the upper lid 21. Therefore, the diodes 60 in setting are aligned accurately to the photodetecting elements 63 and the variance in inspection result due to the uncertainty of facing positions is prevented to improve the yield of diodes 60 as products.
