PURPOSE:To measure quantitatively the error rate of data at the reproducing time by counting error flags, which are generated from an error detecting (correcting) circuit at the reproducing time, in accordance with an error detection (correction) code and measuring the error rate of reproduced data on the basis of the counted value. CONSTITUTION:Data reproduced from a tape 1 passes a reproducing circuit 3 and is sent to an error correcting circuit 4 and is subjected to processings such as error detection and correction or the like and is sent to an output circuit 5. Meanwhile, error flags generated at this time are counted for a certain time by an error counting circuit 6, and the error rate is calculated in accordance with the counted value by an operating circuit 7 and is sent to a display device 8. |
