The device 1 comprises a measurement sensor 4 attached to the joint to be monitored, converting the diffraction angle acting upon it into a function which can be evaluated by measurement techniques and connected to an evaluation unit 9 processing its output signals according to corresponding specifications. The measurement sensor 4 may comprise two wire strain gauges attached on either side of a flexible carrier. It is housed together with the evaluation unit 9 in a retaining strap 3 adapted to the particular joint.
