In a drive device for displacing window panes, sliding roofs or the like in motor vehicles, a shaft (1) is connected to a drive element on the one hand and to a transmission system (2) on the other. The shaft (1) has a locking element (4) which acts in one direction and takes the form of a free-running grip roller, which has an inside ring (6) which is provided with clamping ramps (5) and is fixedly connected to a gearwheel (3), and a smoothly cylindrical outside ring (7), between which rings rollers (13) are arranged which are accommodated in a cage (12) which is fixedly coupled to the shaft (1), the inside ring (6) being able to pivot between two stops (17, 18) in such a way that the rollers (13) permit actuation of the drive device while the shaft is being driven by the drive element for opening and closing of the part to be displaced, but block the drive device when the shaft is driven by the transmission system (2) via the part which is to be displaced.
