PURPOSE:To restore or change defect information when defect information of a disc medium is broken down, by writing defect position information on the disc medium and recording in a data preserving file and storing it in a nonvolatile memory. CONSTITUTION:An MPU4 instructs a central controller 6 to perform the error test for matter operation by the indication from a console 2. The controller 6 starts an analog signal detecting part 8 and magnetic disc device groups 20-23. Device groups 20-23 execute the write/read operation and report results to the controller 6 and the detecting part 8. The controller 6 discriminates test results from device groups 20-23 and test results from the detecting part 8 and reports them to the MPU4 as medium defect information, and the MPU4 edits them and displays them on a display part 1 and sends them to a non- volatile memory writer 5 to store them on the nonvolatile memory and registers them in magnetic disc device groups 10-13. |
