A lock for the releasable locking of two parts, especially a door lock for motor vehicles, has a lock case which is assigned to one part (for example, a door) and in which symmetrically designed and arranged spreadable bolt claws are mounted. The other part (for example, the so-called lock column of a motor vehicle) is assigned a locking pin, which is made conical or arrow-shaped at its free end facing the bolt claws and behind which, at the said free end, the bolt claws engage in the locking state. Arranged between the bolt claws is a locking-pin bearing which cooperates with the locking pin and is at the same time displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the latter and which is connected operatively to the bolt claws, in such a way that, when a pressure load is exerted on the locking-pin bearing by the locking pin, the locking-pin bearing displaced thereby exerts on the two bolt claws a torque acting in the locking direction of the bolt claws. Such a lock guarantees a positive locking which no longer depends on the operability of any locking spring. Such a positive locking thus affords a high degree of safety against unintended release and, in use in vehicle doors, safety against the inadvertent opening of the door, for example in the event of an accident or the overturning of the vehicle.
